Welcome to the newest page on the Colorado Image website!
Hi I’m Jon Camrud, a Colorado nature photographer, and owner of this site.
I am announcing a plan to re-imagine Colorado Image as a directory for Colorado photographers to showcase one, or a few, of their best images as a gateway to link users to their own site.
It will not be a photo purchasing site – it is a directory and an online photo gallery, sure to please the public once we get a collection of Colorado’s finest photos on it.
In the pilot year for the idea, 2017, I will replace my personal images with photos from Colorado photographers with professional level offerings. This method will be better than the more stale alternative of lists of photographer names and their own portraits.
Each image in the gallery will be able to be clicked to take the user to a page about the photo, yourself and your website.
This will allow people to see a sample of your work, and click through to your website to either purchase the image, or view more of your work.
Each photo on the site will have clickable tags so that users can both discover your work through another page, and discover other photographers through your page.
I will be rotating photos into the mix on the home page as well.
And, if someone knows your name, you can also be found in the search feature. That same search function will allow users to search keywords for photos.
What Are the Benefits to You, the Photographer?
More exposure for you and your best photo(s).
Promotion via social media – I will be announcing each time a new photographer joins.
As we get more and more photographers, I may do some paid Google advertising as well.
What are the Requirements?
In order to participate:
- you must have a website, or some online presence to link to. This can even be a Facebook page.
- You must provide a link back to Colorado Image. I will be creating a nifty “Member of…” png graphic to make it a beneficial looking icon, or you can simply use a text link.
- You must primarily sell images in Colorado, or have the majority of your subject matter on your website be of Colorado.
- You must have an pre-approved image that will represent you on the site.
- Your subscription must be paid.
You do not need to be a nature photographer!
Past and Future Success
The site used to rank #1 in most searches of Colorado photo keywords, but has slipped because photography is my side business, so I did not keep the site updated or relevant.
Google likes older, established sites, but it also likes active sites, larger sites, and ones with backlinks (which is why we require a link back from your site). The new site format will address all three. The age of the domain is over 12 years, so it has that as a base upon which to build.
As we add photos and people flip through them, the site should gain higher ranking again.
So in time (hopefully a short time), you will have a presence on a site that probably ranks higher than your own.
If you know about SEO, the link back to your site from a higher ranked site will benefit your own site rank. That alone is worth the price.
What is the Price?
I need to gauge interest level for a week or two before setting a price. The more photos we have the cheaper the price! I anticipate it will be under $10 a month, on a yearly contract to start.
What Do You Need to Do?
What I need from you at this time is feedback, so I can get a read on level of interest before a full scale site re-build and launch.
Go to my contact page and let me know your no-obligation support for the idea. Or, if not interested, suggestions to make it appealing for you.
I’ll contact you when we are ready to go… hopefully by mid April, 2017.
When we are ready to implement, I will need a 1000 px jpeg file or two of your best unique image(s) that represents your work, a list of key phrases describing the image, a short description of the image, a bio about you and your photo style or your photo offering, and a link to your website.
If you don’t have a website, let me know and I can help, or you can send people to wherever they can purchase your photos.
You can choose to watermark your image or not. I suggest you do so, to protect your large image from unauthorized use.
More details will be forthcoming, including a sample page of the directory, in the coming days.
I hope you will join the site… let’s get noticed!

PS The site format will change, including the navigation menu items, home page display and the expanded footer. When we get enough photographers, the ads will be minimized, and may ultimately be removed.
In short, it will look like an online gallery of Colorado Photos on the surface, but instead of “add to cart” options on this site, links to your site will be the action buttons.
